CAF reveals top three

CAF has announced the names of the final three candidates for the 2012 African Footballer of the Year award after chopping an earlier published five-man shortlist to three.



Current holder Yaya Toure of Ivory Coast and his fellow Ivorian Didier Drogba, who has won it twice in 2006 and 2009, will be vying against Cameroon and Barcelona midfielder Alexander Song.



The winner will be announced at the Awards Gala in Accra, Ghana on December 20.



The African football body also released the names of the top three candidates for the African Player of the year Based in Africa.



Zambian duo Rainford Kalaba and Stoppila Sunzu both of Congolese side TP Mazembe are joined by Egyptian Mohamed Aboutreika who won the 2012 Caf Champions League title with his club Al Ahly.
