Barça wants to offload Cuenca

Barcelona will try to make Isaac Cuenca accept a loan move until the end of the season before the end of the winter transfer window. The player, who was operated on the meniscus in his right knee on the 31st of May last year, only received the all clear last Monday, meaning he has been inactive for eight months without playing a minute. Starting from scratch at Barça, his chances will be almost inexistent in the forward role he prefers.

Vilanova already has Messi, Pedro, Villa, Alexis and Tello. Under the system in place this season, Messi is untouchable and Iniesta usually gets the nod to play wide on the left. This leaves just one position to share between the rest. Pedro is usually first choice for it, leaving Villa, Alexis and Tello to share the rest of the minutes available. These arguments have already been explained to the player and it has been suggested that he leave the club in a bid to get some games, before returning to start afresh from the beginning of next season.

However, the player is not convinced and is deciding whether to accept the situation or stay with the incentive of winning some medals, with the team on top of the league, favourites in the Champions and two rounds away from a Spanish Cup Final.
